While there\u2019s plenty of green spaces to spend time, there is one which really stands out from the crowd:<a href=\"https:\/\/catalunyacasas.com\/blog\/experience-girona-through-the-art-of-photography\/\"> Girona\u2019s<\/a> La Devesa Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spanning more than 40 hectares, and with\nmore than 2600 plane trees (many of which date back to the 1850\u2019s), La Devesa\nPark is the biggest urban park in Catalonia, and one of the region\u2019s largest\ngreen spaces. It\u2019s similar to Manhattan\u2019s Central Park, offering quiet\nseclusion in the heart of the city. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When to Visit<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although there\u2019s never a bad day to visit the park, the area really comes to life on Tuesdays and Saturdays when there\u2019s a large, lively fruit and veg market. If you\u2019re staying in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catalunyacasas.com\/rentals\/holidays-rentals-rentals-d0\/\">villa in Spain<\/a> that has a kitchen that you can use, this market is great or picking up some fresh, local produce to cook with. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Attractions &amp; Activities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll find peaceful picnic spots, busy, on-the-go sports areas, and everything in between here. Be sure to spend some time admiring the streams and fountains and, if you\u2019re staying in a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.catalunyacasas.com\/rentals\/holidays-rentals-rentals-d0\/\"> family villa in Spain <\/a>with the kids you\u2019ll be pleased to know that there\u2019s a child\u2019s play area here to keep them active! It\u2019s also worth walking around the French-style gardens which have local varieties, as well as more exotic plants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Getting There<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The only downside to La Devesa Park is access. If you\u2019re staying in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catalunyacasas.com\/rentals\/holidays-rentals-z0\/tag-car-not-necessary\/\">Barcelona accommodation<\/a> and are taking the train into Girona, the park is a 25 minute walk from the station, which can be challenging for older people and those with lesser mobility. The good news, however, is that it is possible to take public transport.
