Barcelona is a city with breathtaking sunset views, making it the perfect place to relax and watch the sun set, especially if you’re viewing it from your beautiful vacation rental. If you want to watch the sun set over the horizon, you’ll have to plan a trip to the west coast, Galicia or the Canary Islands, but Barcelona certainly won’t disappoint with its city lights that come on when it gets dark to replace the light of the now sunset.

Whether you are looking for a romantic evening or just some relaxation, here you can find 3 spots to watch the perfect sunset.

  • Bunkers del Carmel

These abandoned remnants of the Spanish Civil War are perched atop a hill above the city and offer a unique vantage point from which to watch the sunset in Barcelona. Although they were unknown to the hordes of tourists a few years ago, they are now well known, as social media such as TikTok and Instagram have popularised the view from this spot. perhaps a while ago we could have called them a hidden gem, but nowadays when the weather is good, you will find crowds here too. being a little bit outside the centre, it is better to organise yourself in time and bring something to drink and something to eat (maybe plan a picnic) for dinner. we’ll give you some help: the best way to get to the Bunkers is to take the bus, there are several lines you can use from the centre: 24, 114, 119 and V17, V19.

  • Barceloneta

You are on the Barceloneta. what is the first thing you notice? Certainly the W hotel! Its sail shape makes it stand out from the Barcelona skyline. it is one of the most sought-after places to stay in Barcelona and it also has one of the most elegant and perfect terraces to watch the sunset tinting the sky. if you want to blend in with the crowds and relax on the beach, just lie down on the sand of the Barceloneta with a cerveza or a drink from the chiringuito next door and enjoy the sky changing its colours. But above all, keep an eye on backpacks and bags!

  • Castle of Montjuïc

This military construction is located on an elevated spot above the city, making it an ideal place to watch the sun set. As you have to pay to enter the castella, we recommend that you go there during the afternoon, explore the whole castle so as to make the most of your ticket, and at sunset time relax in front of the view of this wonderful city, which manages to combine modern, historical buildings, lights and pools of water on the horizon. To reach the fortress you need to take the cable car to the top of Montjuïc Hill. Some people also like to watch the sunset from the cable car cabin, so if that’s your thing you’ll certainly have an original experience! Complete the experience by heading down the hill in time to witness the spectacle of the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc. This spectacular show of lights, colours and water is a must-see when visiting Barcelona!

No matter where you go in Barcelona, you’re sure to find a perfect spot to watch the sunset. Whether it’s from a beach, a hilltop park, a viewing platform or your vacation rental in Barcelona you’re sure to have a memorable evening watching the sun go down over this beautiful city.
